This interview by Max Keiser of the Keiser Report with former Senator Mike Gravel in 2011 is excellent. Mike Gravel once signed on as a member of CESJ’s Board of Counselors and was a supporter of Kelso’s ideas to distribute ownership shares in the Alaska oil pipeline to every citizen. Mike’s plan was sidetracked by his political opposition with their alternative plan to distribute profits, not dividend-bearing shares and governing power directly to each citizen, through appointees of the State of Alaska. Mike lost his plan and his seat as a U.S. Senator.
I totally agree with Mike’s approach to direct democracy for returning political power to the American people, but I think his appeal to the Occupy Wall Street Movement was not to adopt the Just Third Way vision and demand passage of the Capital Homestead Act (of which he is aware). The Occupy Movement is only one part of the political activist spectrum. Neither they nor Mike offered an economic agenda that would deliver economic power through equal ownership opportunities to every child, woman and man and thereby radically overhaul the future of corporate ownership and end the tyranny of money controlled by Wall Street and the top 0.1 percent of current wealth owners. As you know, our proposed Capital Homestead Act offers a comprehensive blueprint for democratizing future ownership of the annual growth ring of new capital formation, without violating private property rights of current owners over their current wealth. And it will grow the economy, create new jobs and take economic power from Wall Street and spread it among all citizens. It will pass the Congress when the activists and academics from the political left and activists and academics wake up and unite in a new vision of economic justice for a peaceful Second American Revolution to restore America as a model for all citizens of the world.
Mike should be invited by all our supporters to read the Platform of our newly formed Unite America Party to join the only party that abandons hate and fear and aggressively seeks unity by offering a new Just Third Way system that makes the old system of crony capitalism obsolete.
I encourage you to send your thoughts to Mike at sengravel@p2dd.org.
