This is a really smart video presentation that should get you thinking! Big Mike explains what happened to the American Middle Class…and why the American Dream has slipped so far out of reach for many families.
However, Mike’s conclusion of why the rich are getting richer is off base. The reason is it is all about investments in productive capital formation, resulting in the concentration of ownership of income-producing assets. At the same time, ordinary Americans, who are “savings” strapped non- or under-capitalized and propertyless are shut out of the financial system that works for the rich, whose productive capital investments pay for themselves out of the earnings generated by the investments.
So, what’s the solution. Do everything possible to design our policies and programs to empower ordinary Americans to acquire future productive capital assets and pay for them just like the rich, out of the future earnings (future savings) generated by the investments.
